Maintenance, Car Care
Wiper blades
Wiper blades that are in perfect condition are vital
for a clear view.
f
Replace the wiper blades twice a year (before
and after the cold season) or whenever wiper
performance deteriorates.
f
Periodically clean the wiper blades with a
window cleaner, especially after the vehicle
has been washed in a car wash.
We recommend the Porsche window cleaner.
If they are very dirty (e.g. with insect remains),
they can be cleaned with a sponge or cloth.
If the wiper blades rub or squeak, this may be as
a result of the following:
If the vehicle is washed in an automatic car wash,
wax residues may adhere to the windscreen.
These wax residues can only be removed by using
a concentrated window cleaner.
f
Please observe the chapter “WASHER FLUID”
on page 185.
Please contact your Porsche partner for further
information.
If the wiper blades are damaged:
f
Replace damaged wiper blades as soon as
possible.
Please observe the chapter “WIPER BLADES”
on page 188.
Undersealing
The underside of the vehicle is lastingly protected
against chemical and mechanical effects.
Damage to this protective layer while driving
cannot be ruled out.
The vehicle underside should therefore be
checked and repaired at regular intervals by a
qualified specialist workshop.
Warning!
Risk of fire in the area of the exhaust system.
f
Do not apply additional undersealing or rust
protection agent on or near the exhaust
manifolds, exhaust pipes, catalytic converters
or heat shields.
The protective material could overheat and
ignite while you are driving.
After washing the underside, cleaning the engine
or repairing a unit, the unprotected parts must be
preserved using suitable materials.
Stainless steel tailpipes
Stainless steel tailpipes may suffer discolouration
caused by contamination, major heat build-up and
combustion residue.
The original gloss can be recovered using
commercially available metal lustre paste or metal
polish.
Light alloy wheels
f
Please observe the chapter “CAR WASHES” on
page 191.
Metal particles (e.g. brass or copper in brake
dust) must not remain too long on light alloy
wheels.
Contact corrosion can cause pitting.
f
If possible, wash the wheels every two weeks
with a sponge or washing brush. Where there
is road salt, grit or industrial dust, weekly
cleaning is necessary.
For this purpose, use a cleaner for light
alloy wheels (pH value 9.5). Products with
the wrong pH value can destroy the
protective layer on the wheels.
We recommend Porsche cleaner for light alloy
rims.
Cleaners with an oxide-removing effect, as are
commonly used for other metals, as well as
mechanical tools and products, will damage the
oxide layer and are therefore unsuitable.
f
Every three months, after cleaning, grease the
wheels with car wax or an acid-free grease
(Vaseline).
Rub the grease in well with a soft cloth.
