1. Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the PIKO SmartMeasure Car! You hold in your hands an innovative tool that is a first-of-its-kind in model
railroading. The technology included in the PIKO SmartMeasure Car makes it possible to measure more than just train speed or track length: the
SmartMeasure Car allows you to measure things such as grades (track incline), rail superelevation, voltage, and the reactions of a locomotive
decoder. The SmartMeasure Car will retain all the measured data in its memory or the device of your choice. Until now, it has been hard to
measure every inch of rail on a layout; especially in difficult-to-reach areas like hidden staging yards or tunnel trackage. You can run a train to
see if the rails are joined correctly, but visual observation does not provide exact data on voltage drawn or the percentage of a grade. Modifying
a track plan or re-wiring a certain section can be difficult without these exact values. The PIKO SmartMeasure Car calculates all this data with a
simple trip around the layout! The SmartMeasure Car can be used in Standalone-mode or it can be connected to a computer or Android device
using WLAN. The WLAN option provides real-time data for up to four devices. Now you can measure distances on your layout down to 1cm:
