• DCC sniffer address / Loco Address
The car can also monitor an assigned locomotive address via a “sniffer” address.
This function allows the car to check a locomotive for problems and determine if a problem is in a locomotive’s decoder or if it is in the DCC
command center.
2.4 Function modes
The PIKO SmartMeasure Car can be operated in three different modes:
1. “StandAlone“
In Stand Alone mode, measured values are shown directly on the SmartMeasure Car’s display. After starting a run, up to 180 minutes of data can
be stored in the car’s internal memory. Different screens can be selected using the touch-sensitive panels on either side of the display.
*Some functions are not accessible in Stand Alone mode.
2. WLAN / smart-device
In WLAN / smart device mode, you control the SmartMeasure Car remotely using the SmartMeasure app on your smartphone or tablet. The app
features arrow keys that allow you to scroll through the different screens on the car’s display. This allows you to monitor all the data even when
the car is not visible to you on the layout. The App allows you to change the units of measurement and to assign either the car’s DCC address or
a sniffer address.
3. WLAN / PC (software sold separately*)
In WLAN / PC mode, the SmartMeasure car is connected to a PC running PIKO Analyst software, which allows you to display all the measured
data real-time on your PC screen. You can display a single data screen, analyze a specific set of data, or compare data from a certain section
of your layout with another: When connected to a PC via a USB cable, additional options are possible like changing the internal settings of the
Smart Measure car, reading data directly from the internal memory, updating firmware, and charging the car’s internal battery.
