5.11.4 Arbitrary waveforms

5.11.4.1 Fixed waveforms:
There is waveform-editor software in instrument accessories, and 8 fixed waveforms are built-in, any 5 of
which can be downloaded into generator. All function waveforms that can be expressed as equations are
able to be made into fixed waveforms. The fixed waveforms can be downloaded and updated with editor
software, or can be deleted but not be modified and edited by keypad.
5.11.4.2 User-defined waveforms:
The waveform-editor software has a waveform editing window, you can click in editing window with mouse,
and the software can connect all the clicked points together in lines to form an arbitrary waveform, then you
can download it into the instrument. The user-defined waveform can be downloaded and updated at any
moment with waveform editing software, and can be edited and modified with the keyboard or knob as well.

To edit a user-defined waveform, firstly you should recall the user-defined waveform,

softkey to delete the current user-defined waveform. Then input horizontal phase and
vertical voltage values of every editing point in sequence from 0# editing point whose phase value must be
0° to the last one whose phase value must be 360° and the middle ones’ phase value must raise in
sequence. If you need cycle of waveform continuous, you must make the amplitude of point 0° and 360°
equal. The least points for user-defined waveform is 2 (take Sawtooth waveform for example), 500 points at
most. It is able to edit simple waveforms with the keyboard of the generator, and its advantage is real-time
editing and outputting. But as for complicated waveforms, editing with keyboard wastes time much, you’d
better edit on computer screen using a mouse with the waveform-editor software.
5.11.4.4 Waveform storage:
Regardless of downloaded from PC using software or edited using the keyboard and knob, all fixed or user-
defined arbitrary waveforms are stored in volatile memory, they will vanish after the generator switching off
the generator. If you want to preserve the waveform for a long time, please press
