Chapter 4 - Capture images
6. Check that the pupil is stable in the live view and that the patient's head is not tilted.
7. Ask the patient to look at their chosen corner of the alignment target. The patient should remain still
while you make any final adjustments to the alignment position. Ensure the cross-hairs are centered
on the required area of the retina, for example on the fovea for topography scans and optic nerve
head for ONH scans.
8. Adjust the alignment. The alignment target will change to green when the scan head is the correct
distance from the patient's eye. If the target turns red the scan head is too close. If the target turns
blue the scan head is too far away.
l
When aligning the patient the center of the cross hairs should be close to the center of the
pupil as possible.
l
In some instances you may choose to capture an image when the patient is aligned to the
blue or red target. If the patient has an IOL or small pupils you may choose to capture when
the target is red. If the patient has very large pupils you may choose to capture when the
target is blue.
l
You can make adjustments using the hand control (see
9. The z-alignment co-ordinates are shown. Ideally these should be as near to zero as practical,
depending on the patient being imaged.
10. Capture the required image modality from the following list:

4.4 How to capture SLO images
To capture SLO images use the procedure below:
1. Prepare the device for image capture (see
How to prepare for image capture
2. Align the patient (see
3. Ask the patient to blink then open both eyes wide, and to look at the center of the alignment target.
Using the live pupil view, center the cross hairs on the pupil until the target is aligned and turns
green.
4. Capture the image either manually or using auto-capture.
l
Auto-capture: Auto-capture is enabled when
Automatic
is shown in green on the touch screen.
The system captures an image when the scan head is correctly aligned. You can press the
screen to manually capture the image. Auto-capture is turned off after capturing an image.
l
Manual capture: Align the scan head into the correct position. Press the screen to capture the
image when the pupil is in the center of the cross hairs and the patient alignment target is
green. You can also capture using the hand control.
5. Check the quality of the images (see
What to do after the image is captured
