5. Ask the patient to:
a. Place their hands in their lap and their feet flat on the floor.
b. Follow the alignment target as they move in close to the device. Refer to the
c. Turn their head slightly so that their nose is on the outside of the face pad. You should check
that the patient's head is vertical and that any tilting is minimized.
d. Ask the patient to rest their forehead on the head rest. The patient's mouth should be closed
to reduce movement during image capture.
e. Use the hand control to adjust the chin rest height to support the patient's chin (see
on page 33). Check that the patient's chin does not go beyond the edge of the
chin rest, as this may affect the quality of the image. For some patients you may need to
lower the chin rest from the default nominal position before aligning the patient.
f. Ask the patient to confirm that they are comfortable, that their head is firmly supported by the
head rest and chin rest, and that their teeth are together and mouth closed.
