Chapter 4 - Capture images
4.1.1 Adding a new patient
You can add a new patient if the searched patient is
NOT
found. You should check your search criteria
before adding a new patient to avoid duplicating records. Added patient records may need be reconciled by
your System Administrator.
4.1.2 Selecting and editing existing patient
Search for a patient's details by providing the patient's first name, last name, birth date, or patient ID.
You can edit details for existing patients before entry to the capture screen.
4.1.3 Selecting a Patient Order from MWL
When enabled, the scan head supports the selection of patients from a DICOM MWL Server.
Search Patient Orders in MWL by providing the patient's name, Patient ID, Accession Number, or
Procedure Type. You can select filters to narrow down the search results.
Patient details cannot be edited from the Patient Order. Patients added, for example due to the Patient
Order not being available, patient details being changed, or the MWL Server being down, must be
reconciled using Optos
Advance .

4.1.4 Working with Modality Work List (MWL)
When enabled, the scan head supports the selection of patients from a DICOM MWL Server.
Searching patient orders in MWL mode supports the following: Name; Patient ID; Accession Number;
Procedure Type and Modality. Depending on your configuration, a subset of the search criteria may be
available.
Patients added whilst in MWL, due to either the Order not being available or the MWL Server being down,
must be reconciled using Optos
Advance .
4.1.5 How to search using MWL
1. Select the MWL Search Parameter for the information type to be searched.
2. Enter the
Search Criteria .
3. Select [Enter] on the touch screen to search MWL and display the corresponding MWL Work Item.

4.2 How to prepare for image capture
Before you capture an image the patient needs to be aligned and the image options selected.
1. Remove the dust cap from the face pad.
2. Clean the areas where the patient comes into contact with the device (see Cleaning before each
patient on page 61).
3. Select the patient record (see Selecting and managing patient details on the previous page).
4. Select the options for the images being captured.
