In the probe configuration menu, a tick-
box ‘Store Load - Displacement graph as BMP’ can be ticked
to store each load-displacement curve as BMP in addition to the tab-separated text file containing
the raw data.
Options menu
The ‘Options menu’ allows setting of a number of variables that define the ‘Find - surface’ function,
matrix scan settings, and model selection and parameters (Figure 50).
The ‘dZ at XY move’ field controls the transportation height of the probe when moving to a new
coordinate in a matrix scan, the ‘Z above surf.’ field controls the offset in Z
-direction of the probe tip
to the sample surface after detecting the surface using the automated find- surface function, the ‘dX
before scan’ field controls the offset in X -direction of the probe tip with respect to the surface after
the surface has been determined.

The Model settings section, displaying the ‘Oliver & Pharr’ and ‘Her t zian contact’ buttons, allow one
to select the model of choice to be applied for the indentation or matrix scan. In case the Oliver &
Pharr model is selected, the ‘Pmax %’ and ‘Pmin %’ fields control the section of the unloading curve,
expressed in a percentage of the maximum load in the unloading part of the curve, that is used to
make the slope fit. In case the Hert
