4.6. Modbus
Master
Simulators
In the previous section, we introduced the Modbus communication protocol. Now,
we will describe how to achieve the Modbus/TCP communication between the
OME-ET-7000/OME-PET-7000 module and PC-connection.
4.6.1. Modbus/TCP Client
Modbus/TCP Client is a Modbus master simulator and test utility designed primarily
to help users who want to test and simulate the Modbus protocol. Using the
Modbus/TCP Client application, you can compose and send individual Modbus
requests to a Modbus slave, and it can also continually poll (send read and write
requests to) the slave. Subsequently, you can re-run the sequence of commands.
For each individual Modubs request you specify the slave ID, function code, starting
address and quantity. You can refer to the previous section for more detailed
information about Modbus communication protocol.
The complete version of the Modbus/TCP Client can be obtained from the
companion CD:
CD:\Software\Modbus_TCP_Client\
The following instructions will help you to read the status of digital inputs in an
OME-ET-7026 by using the Modbus/TCP Client application.
Step 1: Double-
