4.8.05 Hexadecimal Dump Mode
General Information
The hexadecimal dump mode allows you to view the data sent from a computer to the printer. When the
printer is in hex dump mode, all data received (both printable characters and control codes) will be printed
in both hexadecimal and ASCII format.
NOTE: In the ASCII format, all non-printable characters will be represented by a period.
Example
Below is a line of BASIC code.
LPRINT CHR$(27) ;"0";CHR$(30);"This is an example of hexadecimal dump."
Below is the same line as it would appear in Hexadecimal Dump Mode.
1B 30 1E 54 68 69 73 20 69 73 20 61 6E 20 65 78 .0.
This is an example of a hexadecimal dump
61 6D 70 6C 65 20 66 20 61 20 68 65 78 61 64 65 63 69 6D 61 6C 20 64 75 6D 70 2E 0D 0A
Procedure
Follow these steps to engage the Hexadecimal Dump Mode.
1. Make sure the printer is connected to a computer.
2. Verify that paper is loaded.
3. Verify that the ribbon and printhead are correctly installed.
4. Power OFF the printer.
5. Press and hold the SELECT and TOF/PARK buttons while powering ON the printer.
6. All data sent to the printer, including text and printer commands, will print in both hexadecimal
and ASCII format. In the ASCII format, all non-printable codes will be represented by a period.
7. To return to normal printing, power OFF the printer. Then, power ON.
