Chapter 3 Maintenance & Disassembly

3.5 LUBRICATION

3.5.01 General Information

This equipment is designed to be maintenance-free and oiling is unnecessary during operation.

However, when assembly or cleaning of oiled parts occurs, lubricant is required.

1. Lubricant

Grease-type lubricant

Machine Oil (or equivalent)

Areas to be Lubricated

Carriage Shaft

Wipe the carriage shaft with a lint-free cloth that has been

lightly

dampened with machine oil.

Then, wipe the carriage shaft with a dry, lint-free cloth

Space Rack

Apply a

small

amount of grease to the space rack gear teeth.

CAUTION:

If you apply lubricant to the following areas, the printer may be damaged or output quality can be
degraded.

Carriage Drive Belt

Flexible Head Cable

Microswitches

Platen Surface

Pressure Roller Surface

Pressure Rollers (on Paper Bail Bar)
