How to use the appliance
How to make a vacuum bag of film
Position the appliance on an even surface and plug to a wall outlet; the signal
lamp goes on.
1. Use a pair of scissors to cut the length you want. Adapt the length to leave
at least 7 cm between the contents of the bag and the opening of the
vacuum bag. Only use original film from OBH Nordica.
2. Put the short end of the film on top of the sealing element (5) and down
into the vacuum channel (4); make sure that the entire short end is in the
vacuum channel.
3. Close the lid and press hard until you hear a click sound from the two
release buttons (10) on the sides of the appliance.
4. Press the SEAL button (7) to start the sealing and the signal lamp goes on.
When the signal lamp goes off, the sealing is ready.
5. Press the release buttons (10) on both sides of the appliance to open the
lid to the appliance. Now you can remove the finished vacuum bag. The
vacuum bag is now ready to be used for vacuum packing.
Important tips for vacuum packing
• Do not put too many ingredients in the vacuum bag/vacuum container.
Leave at least 7 cm between the content of the vacuum bag and the bag
opening.
• Make sure that the opening of the vacuum bag is dry. If not, the bag will not
seal properly.
• Stretch the bag opening before you position it against the sealing element
in order to remove possible wrinkles and roughnesses.
• Never put objects such as fish bones and hard shells in the vacuum bag,
as such objects may penetrate the bag. Use the vacuum container for this
purpose.
• During the vacuum packing process liquid and other particles may
inadvertently end up in the vacuum pump, which may make the pump get
stuck and damage the appliance. In order to prevent this, we recommend
that you freeze liquid ingredients in a freezer proof container prior to
vacuum packing in a vacuum bag or a vacuum container. Note that if liquid
is vacuum packed direct in a vacuum container without pre-freezing, the
container may be damaged and crack when put in the freezer. See the
section “Preparation guide for various raw materials”.
• For vacuum packing of meat or other humid ingredients, put some kitchen
paper between the ingredients and the bag opening. When vacuum packing
flour, grains and other powdered products, we recommend that you put a
coffee filter between the contents and the bag opening. Make sure that the
paper/filter does not get into the sealing.
• Note that vacuum packed fresh food should be kept in a refrigerator or a
freezer. Remember that vacuum sealing is not the same as preservation; it
simply increases the shelf life.
• Remember that food with a high fat content can be rancid if kept in a too
warm environment.
