Real-time counter (RTC)

13.1 Introduction

The real-time counter (RTC) consists of one 16-bit counter, one 16-bit comparator,
several binary-based and decimal-based prescaler dividers, three clock sources, one
programmable periodic interrupt. This module can be used for time-of-day, calendar or
any task scheduling functions. It can also serve as a cyclic wake-up from low-power
modes, Stop3 and Wait without the need of external components.

13.2 Features

Features of the RTC module include:

• 16-bit up-counter

• 16-bit modulo match limit
• Software controllable periodic interrupt on match

• Software selectable clock sources for input to prescaler with programmable 16 bit

prescaler

• XOSC 32.768KHz nominal.
• LPO (~1 kHz)
• Bus clock
