In the air
General
The ITUS is designed to be flown in an upright or slightly reclined seating posi-
tion. This facilitates good all-round vision, a high degree of wing control and exact,
sensitive maneuvering. In addition to the low weight and a wide range of uses,
passive safety is one of the great strengths of the ITUS: the pre-inflated airbag,
in combination with the SAS-TEC back protector, provide full security
even before
take off.
Launch and landing
With the ITUS, freedom of movement on the ground is very high. In flight, moving
from a standing to a seated position is simple. To guarantee this, the seat plate
adjustment strap has been equipped with a limiter to prevent awkward sitting
positions that make it difficult to get into the harness. NOVA has reduced the
adjustment range of the seat plate inclination so that it is possible to get into the
harness after every adjustment.
Pre-flight check
Before every take off, please perform the following five-point check:
1. Buckled-up:
leg and chest straps are connected correctly, helmet chin strap is
closed
2. Clipped-in:
risers are not twisted, speed system is correctly connected,
carabiners are locked
3. Lines:
A-lines are on top, all lines are sorted and free of knots, brake lines run
cleanly to the pulleys
4. Canopy:
wing is laid out on launch in an arc with the leading edge open
5. Wind and air space:
wind is suitable for take off, air space is clear
Turns
You can adjust the agility of your harness by varying the width of the chest strap.
The tighter the chest strap, the higher the damping. The wider, the more agile
the handling. There is no optimal width. The correct adjustment is a question of
personal preference.
Acceleration
If the speed system is engaged, the seating position changes. The upper body
moves back and the seating position becomes more reclined. The speed-bar is
fitted with a retractor bungee as standard. The bungee pulls the speed-bar back
into its original position. This ensures that the speed-bar does not obstruct the
parachute in the case of a rescue deployment.
We recommend that you connect the speed-bar before every flight. In many
situations it can offer additional safety.
Stirrup
The ITUS can be flown with a stirrup (not supplied). This allows the legs to be
stretched and supported which offers a lot of extra comfort – especially on long
flights. We recommend only using the stirrup supplied by NOVA.
