Reversible harness – with detachable rucksack
The ITUS was designed as a reversible harness and is delivered as such. Those
looking for a lightweight harness with solid passive safety who don‘t need a revers-
ible harness will find that the ITUS hiking rucksack can be detached in one easy
step. In place of the rucksack, a cover (included) is then zipped on instead.
NOVA will produce more hiking rucksacks which are compatible with the ITUS.
This means the ITUS can be perfectly adapted to the individual needs of the pilot.
The main thing: get it out!
During the design of the ITUS, special attention was paid to the deployment of the
rescue parachute. After all, an unhindered deployment is fundamental for the safety
of the pilot. To ensure easy operation even under difficult conditions, our test pilots
and developers did countless laps with the ITUS on the G-Force Trainer. With just
one goal – a quick and clean deployment! Regardless of the chosen parachute and
the pulling direction favoured by the pilot, the rescue container of the ITUS had to
facilitate an easy deployment.
This necessitated a 3D design of the rescue container and an adjustment of the
deployment bag. Due to the new design, the pulling force on the deployment bag
is better distributed and a larger opening of the rescue container was created.
This makes it easier to deploy and prevents the rescue from getting stuck in the
compartment – regardless from which angle you pull it.
The ITUS
Introduction
The ITUS is a completely versatile and lightweight reversible harness with a seat
plate, airbag and SAS-TEC protector. If required, the rucksack can be completely
detached. Always on board is an extra portion of safety, because the airbag fills
immediately after unpacking. In addition, thanks to the 3D design, the para-
chute being wedged in the container is impossible – regardless at which angle it
is deployed. Its light weight combined with extraordinary high passive safety,
ergonomic seat geometry and its small packing volume make the ITUS the ideal
companion for every flight.
Certainly, the right decision
One of the main features of the ITUS is its passive safety. Both in daily
use and through in-depth examination of the protectors, the material and
design were thoroughly put to the test. The result is a high-quality safety
system consisting of two protectors – even while the harness is being
unpacked, the 3-chamber airbag fills itself. Due to the use of memory materials
like Nitinol and polycarbonate, the protector persistently returns to its original
form, but remains flexible when packing. The certified SAS-TEC protector effec-
tively enhances the protection of the harness in the back area. Therefore, the ITUS
continuously protects the pilot from their thighs right up to the upper back. This is
why we call the ITUS a “light, safe harness”.
