Chapter 5 PCMCIA Expansion Module 87
Reference for Passport 4460 Hardware
EMC Control Clamp
To prevent the Ethernet cable from emitting radio interference, and in keeping
with agency compliance, the Ethernet cable must have an EMC control clamp
attached when connecting to a PC card. This clamp prevents the re-radiation of an
EMI field from inside the equipment onto the cable.
This clamp (part number 209646-A) is provided with the PCMCIA expansion
module and must be placed no further than 3.7 cm. (1-1/2 inch) from the
connector located on the PCMCIA expansion module. The cable must pass
through the clamp three times to function properly.
Refer to the Installing the EMC Control Clamp manual, for installation
instructions.
