102 Chapter 7 Port Connections for the Passport 4460
205677-F Rev 00
Power the modem off and return the modem to Dumb Mode by setting hardware
switch 8 to OFF (up).
Baud Rate
You may set the management port baud rate either from the CLI (via SNMP) or
through the boot time debug menu.
Once a given baud rate has been set, that baud rate will continue to be used by
both the boot and application code, until you set a different value.
The baud rate will remain unchanged through all warm resets, cold resets, and
power cycles.
If the current baud rate setting has been forgotten, follow this procedure to force
the baud rate to a known value:
1
Power off the unit.
2
Remove the flash card.
3
Power on the unit (with the flash card removed).
4
With the power on, insert the flash card.
After the modules are in place and the system is operating, refer to the software
documentation for configuration information.
Connecting the Serial Port
The serial port is used to connect to the WAN, frame relay DCE or to legacy data
equipment. Depending on the cable used, it can be configured as DTE or DCE,
and can support any one of four EIA/CCITT interface types.
The Serial Port has the following features:
Warning:
Incorrect modem settings and/or cabling may cause
