Install the Ball Screw Assembly
1. See Figure 10. Install the sprocket (7) onto the ball
screw assembly and align the holes.
2. Install the ball screw assembly and sprocket (7) to
the bearing assembly (6).
3. Insert the screws (10) through the ball screw (9),
sprocket (7), and into the bearing assembly (6).
Tighten the screws to 13 ft-lb (17.5 N
•
m).
4. Install the anti-rotation block (4) onto the ball screw
assembly.
5. Apply Never Seez to the threads of the screws (1).
Install the shock absorbers (3) and anti-rotation
cap (2) using the screws (1). Tighten the screws to
82 ft-lb (111 N
•
m).
6. Insert the key (8) into the ball screw (9). Rotate the
ball screw to align the key to the slot in the
anti-rotation block (4).
7. Apply threadlocking adhesive to the threads of the
nut (5). Install the nut onto the anti-rotation block (4).
Tighten the nut to 90–100 ft-lb (122–135.5 N
•
m).
8. If removed:
a. Apply threadlocking adhesive to the threads of
the set screw (11). Install the set screw into the
toggle pad nut (12).
b. Install the toggle pad nut (12) onto the ball screw
(9) and tighten to 90–95 ft-lb (122–129 N
•
m).
9. See Figure 9. Install the ball screw assembly to the
belt housing (4) using the screws (3). Tighten the
screws to 82 ft-lb (111 N
•
m).
10. Tighten the motor plate screw (7B) until it is secure,
then back it off a
1
/
2
turn.
11. Turn the belt-tension screw (8) clockwise to apply
tension to the belt.
12. Tighten both motor plate screws (7A, 7B)
to 20–24 ft-lb (28–32.5 N
•
m).
13. Install the cover (2) to the bearing housing (4) using
the screws (1). Tighten the screws securely.
Ball Screw Nut Seal
See Figure 11 and use the following procedure to replace
the ball screw nut seal.
Remove the Ball Screw Nut Seal
1. Remove the ball screw assembly. Refer to Remove
the Ball Screw Assembly in this section.
NOTE
To prevent the ball bearings from falling out
of the assembly, never turn the ball screw
rod more than
1
/
8
in. below the seal.
2. Hold the ball screw nut (4) and turn the ball screw
rod (2) to an
1
/
8
in. below the nut seal (1).
3. Use a flat blade screwdriver to remove the old nut
seal.
Install the Ball Screw Nut Seal
1. Insert the new nut seal (1) so that the inscription
faces inward. Locate the raised portion in the recess.
2. Press the nut seal in until it snaps into the groove in
the ball screw nut (4).
3. Turn the ball screw rod (2) past the nut seal.
Observe the seal lip and align the nut seal if
necessary.
4. Install the ball screw assembly. Refer to Install the
Ball Screw Assembly in this section.
