Inlet Valve
See Figure 12 and use the following procedure to replace
the inlet valve.
1. Disconnect the following:
S
cable from the pressure transducer (1)
S
air lines from the elbow fittings (4)
S
material line from the swivel (6)
2. Remove the screws (5) securing the inlet valve (3) to
the metering cylinder (9).
3. Remove these parts from the old inlet valve and
install them on the new inlet valve:
S
pressure transducer (1)
S
elbow fittings (4)
S
swivel assembly (6, 7)
S
rupture disk assembly (15)
4. Remove the O-ring (8) and check it for damage.
Replace if necessary.
5. Install the inlet valve (3) to the metering cylinder (9)
using the screws (5). Tighten the screws to
13 ft-lb (17.5 N
•
m).
6. Connect the following:
S
cable to the pressure transducer (1)
S
lines to the elbow fittings (4)
S
material line to the swivel assembly (6, 7)

Replacing the Inlet Valve
Rupture Disk Assembly
1. See Figure 12. Disassemble the rupture disk
assembly:
a. Remove the rupture disk assembly (15) from the
inlet valve (3).
b. Place the inlet base (11) in a vise.
c. Remove the outlet nut (14), hold down ring (13),
and rupture disk (12). Discard the rupture disk.
d. Remove the O-ring (10) from the inlet base.
Check the O-ring for damage and replace if
necessary.
2. Clean the rupture disk assembly (15):
a. Use a compatible solvent and steel wool to clean
the rupture disk assembly.
b. Make sure that all surfaces are clean and free of
rust. corrosion, and foreign material to ensure a
proper seal.
c. Inspect the rupture disk sealing areas for nicks,
scratches, or pitting. Replace parts if necessary.
3. Replace the rupture disk:
a. Place the inlet base (11) in a vise.
b. Insert the new rupture disk (12), convex side up,
into the inlet base (11).
c. Insert the tapered end of the hold down ring (13)
into the inlet base (11).
d. Install the outlet nut (14) and tighten to
200 ft-lb. (271 N
•
m)
e. Apply synthetic oil to the threads of the inlet
base (11) and the O-ring (10).
! CAUTION !
To prevent damage to the rupture disk, do
use the outlet nut to tighten the rupture disk
assembly into the metering cylinder.
4. Install the rupture disk assembly (15) into the inlet
valve (3) and tighten to 40 ft-lb (54 N
•
m).
Pressure Transducer
1. See Figure 12. Disconnect the cable from the
pressure transducer (1).
2. Remove the pressure transducer (1) from the inlet
valve (3).
3. Lubricate the O-ring (2) on the new pressure
transducer (1) with synthetic oil.
4. Install the pressure transducer (1) into the inlet
valve (3) and tighten securely.
5. Connect the cable to the pressure transducer (1).
