Gearbox
See Figure 8 and use the following procedure to replace
the gearbox.
Remove the Gearbox
1. Remove the servo motor (1). Refer to the Remove
the Servo Motor procedure.
2. Remove the motor plate screws (2) securing the
gearbox (4) to the belt housing (3).
3. Remove the taper lock bushing (8) and the drive
gear (6):
a. Remove the screws (7) from the bushing (8).
b. Insert one screw (7) into the hole (9) that is 180
_
from the bushing slot (11).
c. Tighten the screw (7) to loosen the bushing (8).
d. Remove the sprocket (6) and the bushing (8).
Save the key (10).
4. Remove the screws (12) securing the gearbox (4) to
the motor plate (5).
Install the Gearbox
Clean and degrease the gearbox shaft (11), the
taper-lock bushing (8) bore and outer diameter, and the
tapered inner diameter of the sprocket (6).
1. Install the gearbox (4) to the motor plate (5) using the
screws (12). Tighten the screws to
4–6 ft-lb (5.5–8 N
•
m).
2. Insert the bushing (8) into the sprocket (6) and match
the hole pattern as shown. The installation holes are
only threaded on one side.
3. Apply Loctite 242 to the threads of the screws (7).
Insert the screws into holes as shown.
4. Insert the key (10) into the shaft (11).
5. Make sure that the height between the motor
plate (5) and bottom of the sprocket (6) is
0.91 in. (23.10 mm). Allow for small axial movement
that will occur during the the tightening procedure.
6. Alternately tighten the screws (7) in
20 lb-in. (2.25 N
S
m) increments until
55 lb-in.(6.2 N
S
m ) is obtained.
7. Install the gearbox (4) to the belt housing (3) using
the screws (2). Do not tighten the screws at
this time.
8. Install the servo motor (1). Refer to the Install the
Servo Motor procedure.
