Troubleshooting
These procedures cover only the most common
problems that you may encounter. If you cannot solve
the problem with the information given here, contact your
local Nordson representative for help.
Problem
Possible Cause
Corrective Action
1.
Leakage through
inlet/outlet valve
weep hole
Worn packing cartridge
Replace the packing cartridge. Refer to
the Outlet Valve procedures in the Repair
section.
2.
Leakage through the
material outlet
Worn ball seat or packing cartridge ball
Replace the valve body and/or the entire
valve. Refer to the Outlet Valve
procedures in the Repair section.
3.
Blown rupture disc
Material port blockage
Clean ports. Replace the rupture disk.
Refer to the Rupture Disk Assembly
procedure in the Repair section.
Metering valves do not open
Check metering valves and solenoids;
replace if necessary. Replace the rupture
disk. Refer to the Rupture Disk Assembly
procedure in the Repair section.
Dispensing gun does not open
Check dispensing gun valves; replace if
necessary. Replace the rupture disk.
Refer to the Rupture Disk Assembly
procedure in the Repair section.
Gun nozzle clogged
Clean nozzle and replace rupture disk.
Refer to the Rupture Disk Assembly
procedure in the Repair section.
Valve switching error
Reset the controller program, check
fill/dispensing routine. Refer to your
controller documentation for more
information. Replace the rupture disk.

4.
Servo motor not
responding
Loose wiring connections
Contact your Nordson representative.
Controller switching error
Reset the controller program, check
fill/dispensing routine. Refer to your
controller documentation for more
information.
5.
Metering cylinder
not refilling
Pump ball valve closed
Check the material supply system to
make sure all valves are open.
High friction in metering cylinder
packing glands
Check grease in the packing gland;
replace packing glands if necessary.
Inlet valves do not open
Check inlet valves; rebuild or replace if
necessary. Refer to the Inlet Valve and
Outlet Valve procedures in the Repair
section.
Controller switching error
Reset controller program; check
fill/dispensing routine.
6.
Material flow not
stopping quickly when
inlet/outlet valves
are cycled
Sluggish operating inlet and outlet
valves
Replace the applicable valve. Refer to
the Inlet Valve and Outlet Valve
procedures in the Repair section.
7.
Unstable temperature
control
Heater cartridge or RTD failed.
Check the heater cartridge and RTD;
replace if necessary. Refer to the Heater
Cartridge and RTD procedures in the
Repair section.
