To replace the side valves, perform the following steps:
1. Follow steps 1 through 6 in Disassembling the RA-16 Rotary
Atomizer earlier in this section.
2. See Figure 7-3. Unscrew the two plastic screws (4) holding the valve
cartridge (2) to the valve plate (1). Remove the weep-hole tubing (3).
3. Remove the valve cartridge (2), as follows:
a. Turn on the main air supply to the RA-16 rotary atomizer.
b. Place your hand over the top of the valve cartridge.
WARNING: System or material pressurized. Wear safety
goggles. Do not look directly at valve cartridge. Failure to
observe this warning may result in serious injury or death.
c. Slowly trigger the air trigger until the valve cartridge pops out of
the cavity.
NOTE: If you need to repair the valves, refer to Repairing the
Side (Paint, Solvent, or Dump) Valves later in this section.
4. Place a new valve cartridge (2) into the cavity.
5. Insert the weep-hole tubing (3) into the valve cartridge (2) and valve
plate (1).
6. Screw the two plastic screws (4) holding the valve into the valve
plate (1).
