Installation
WARNING: Allow only qualified personnel to perform the
following tasks. Observe and follow the safety instructions in
this document and all other related documentation.
This section provides instructions for mounting the RA-16 rotary atomizer.
This section also contains instructions for connecting the pneumatic,
electrostatic, and fluid inputs.
The RA-16 rotary atomizer has a 5.08-cm (2-in.) OD mounting stem. You
can mount the RA-16 rotary atomizer to a fixed stand, oscillator, or
reciprocator. If you need to use any other mounting configurations,
contact your local distributor or Nordson representative.
WARNING: Risk of electrical shock. Do not mount the RA-16
rotary atomizer with electrically conductive fittings, plugs,
fasteners, or brackets. Failure to observe this warning may
result in personal injury, death, or equipment damage.
To mount the RA-16 rotary atomizer, see Figure 3-1 and follow these
steps:
1. Screw the mounting stem (5) to the back of the RA-16 rotary
atomizer.
2. Unscrew the strain relief nut (2) and then unscrew the magnetic
speed pick-up assembly (1).
3. Screw the connector (3) into the speed-sensor housing (4).
4. Screw the strain relief nut (2) into the connector.
5. Select and install a nozzle in the fluid tube. Make sure the nozzle is
the correct size for the coating material and flow rate you are using.
Test the coating material you are using to determine proper nozzle
size.
