WELDING AND BATTERY CHARGING

Welding

To avoid damage to the electrical system always observe the following:

1. Always disconnect the battery ground cable before arc welding on the machine or any implements attached to the 
machine.

2. Position the welder ground cable clamp as close to the welding area as possible. Never weld on one frame module 
and have the ground strap of the welder on the other module.

3. Never allow welding cables to lay on, near, or across any electrical wiring or electronic component while welding 
is in progress.

4. Always have an assistant standing by with a fire extinguisher to put out any fires that may start due to welding 
procedures.

5. Always clean area of any grease, fuel or oil before welding.

Battery Charging

Never make or break any of the charging circuit connections, including the connection at the batteries, when the 
engine is running. Never short any of the charging components to the ground.

Do not use a booster battery or charger of more than 12 volts.

Always observe correct polarity when installing batteries or using a booster battery to jump start the engine. Connect 
positive to positive and negative to negative.

Always turn the master switch "off" when charging the batteries in the motor grader with a battery charger.
