System SSDs

Unity Storage Systems have two internal solid-state disks (SSDs): One FASTier write cache SSD and one
drive used for the Unity operating system (the OS SSD).

The FASTier Cache SSD replacement procedure involves both software and hardware steps. It is necessary
that you perform these procedures with assistance by Technical Support, see

The FASTier Write Cache SSD is the drive that is attached to the

SATA 1

port.

To replace a FASTier Cache SSD drive:

1. Contact Technical Support and have them prepare your Unity for the SSD replacement.

2. Perform the migrate cluster resources, unit shutdown, and cover removal steps under

If the FASTier data cables are not fed through the plastic guides on the top of the clear plastic disk
