Portable Vacuum Unit
3 Description
3.1 Function
The Portable Vacuum Unit is an industrial vacuum
cleaner with a 3-phase high pressure side channel fan.
It comes in many versions for different areas of use.
Machine plate for Portable Vacuum Units with side
channel fan: Type designation, serial number, voltage,
rated nominal current, year of manufacture as well as
the manufacturer’s name and address are shown on
the machine data plate, see
Figure 1 pos. f.
Dust separation takes place in three stages:
• Stage 1 is a receiver or cyclone for coarse particles.
• Stage 2 is a fine filter.
• Stage 3 is a micro-filter (optional) with degree of
separation > 99.997% (DOP).
3.2 Power unit
Motor assembly, see Figure 1 , a–f:
• a. Motor and fan.
• b. Silencer.
• c. Back-flush valve.
• d. Micro-filter housing.
• e. Starter.
• f. Machine plate.
3.3 Filter/Filter package
CAUTION! Risk of equipment damage
The Portable Vacuum Unit must never be op-
erated with only a plastic sack, it must always
have a filter. Check regularly that the filter is
not defective.

3.4 Plastic sack/Filter bag
See Figure 5 . The Portable Vacuum Unit can be sup-
plied with either a plastic sack or a filter bag for col-
lecting dust. Plastic sack/Filter bag fits all receptacles
apart from receptacles for metal chips.
CAUTION! Risk of equipment damage
The Portable Vacuum Unit should not be oper-
ated with only a filter bag, but should have an
additional filter.
3.5 Casing
Casing high, see Figure 4 , item a: The casing forms a
container for the filter package. It is important that
the eccentric catches are locked with cotters.
Casing low with lift, see Figure 4 , item b: The cas-
ing forms a container for the filter package and is
equipped with lifting devices to facilitate handling of
the receptacle.
3.6 Receptacle
See Figure 6 , item a. Plastic receptacle: used for all ap-
plications apart from metal chips.

This receptacle is used for metal chips. At the bottom
of the receptacle there is a removable floor grating for
separating liquid from metal chips.
The receptacle also has a drainage valve in the bottom
for draining liquid.
3.7 Frame
Lifting loop: Some Portable Vacuum Units are fitted
with a lifting loop to facilitate lifting.
3.8 Sound casing
Certain Portable Vacuum Units are equipped with
sound casings which reduce the noise level by approx.
10 dB.
3.9 Wheels
See Figure 7 . There are two types of wheels, 250 mm
hard (7a) or 250 mm soft (7b).
