Size of the Partition to be Created
The required minimum size of a partition to install the system can be obtained from the following formula:
Size required for instal paging file size + dump file size
Size required for installation
= 3 500 MB (Windows Server 2003 R2)
Paging file size (recommended)
= size of memory mounted*
×
1.5
Dump file size
= size of memory mounted* + 12 MB
IMPORTANT:
The above paging file size is necessary for collecting debug information (memory dump). If a value
smaller than the “Recommended” value is set for the initial size of the paging file, correct debug
information (memory dump) may not be collected.
The maximum paging file size is 4 095 MB in a partition. If 1.5 times the size of installed memory is larger
than 4 095 MB, set the size at 4 095 MB.
If the size of installed memory is larger than 2 GB, the maximum size of dump file is “2 048 MB+12 MB.”
TIPS:
The installed memory size means the total of memory installed on a single CPU/IO module.
For example, if memory of 1 GB is mounted, the required minimum partition size obtained from the above formula is as
follows:
3 500 MB + (1 024 MB
×
1.5) + (1 024 MB +12 MB) = 6 072 MB
TIPS:
The minimum partition size you can specify in the Express Setup is 6 072 MB. The partition size must
be 6 072 MB or larger for automatic installation. Therefore the size smaller than 6 072 MB cannot be specified.
Step 2: Preparing for Express Setup
Before starting Express Setup, be sure to do the following. If these preparations are not done, setup cannot be performed
properly.
2-1: Preparing NovaScale/ft Server Series
With the power of NovaScale/ft Server series off, follow the steps below:
1.
Prepare NovaScale/ft Server series.
•
Install the modules for both systems.
•
Insert only one hard disk into the slot0.
•
Remove all LAN cables.
•
Remove optional SCSI devices such as a tape device from the SCSI connector.
IMPORTANT:
Do not install any hard disk into any slots of any modules unless specified. If multiple hard disks are
inserted, the hard disk to install OS cannot be determined.
