Cooling fan replacement

See Figure

MD-5

(bottom view) in the Mechanical Drawings section (Section 6) of this manual.

1. Disconnect the associated VHF transmitter’s (A or B) ac power source, disconnect all cabling

from the rear of the transmitter and remove it from the system cabinet.

2. Place the VHF transmitter - bottom side up - on a suitable work surface. Remove the

transmitter’s bottom cover, noting it is secured using M3 screws.

3. Disconnect all fan mating plugs (B1P1 through B5P1) from the splitter PWB (A4).

4. Slide the cooling fan assembly up and out of the transmitter chassis.

5. Remove the defective fan(s), noting they are secured using M3 screws. Retain hardware.

6. Obtain a replacement fan (Nautel Part # 216-8011) from the site spares kit, if purchased, or

contact Nautel to obtain a replacement fan.

7. Install the replacement fan using retained screws.

8. Re-install the cooling fan assembly in the transmitter chassis.

9. Reconnect the fan mating plugs to the splitter PWB.

10. Re-install the VHF transmitter’s bottom cover and return the transmitter to the system

cabinet.
