Responding to alarms

Identifying an alarm
The best way to identify an alarm is by viewing the front panel of the system controller (A1), and in
some cases the front panel of the VHF transmitters (A2 and A3).
Alarm/status LEDs
The
ALARM/STATUS
section on the system controller front panel contains four LEDs (see
Figure 1.1
) that aid in isolating an active fault to a particular section of the transmitter system -
TRANSMITTER A
,
TRANSMITTER B
,
CONTROLLER
and
EXTERNAL
.
Figure 1.1: Alarm/Status LEDs
When the
TRANSMITTER A
or
TRANSMITTER B
LED is:
– green - transmitter is on, with no known faults.
– blinking green/red - transmitter is RF on, but a fault is present
– red - transmitter is RF off.
When the
CONTROLLER
or
EXTERNAL
LED is:
– green - system operation is normal, with no known faults.
– blinking green/red - system is operating with a fault
– red - a fault is present or the system is RF off.
When a fault is present, the transmitter may still produce an RF output or a changeover to the
standby transmitter may occur (if enabled). You should schedule and commence more in-depth fault
diagnosis. See
“List of current alarms” on page 1-6
. The alarms listed in
Table 1.1 on page 1-7
have a
cross-reference column that indicates the
ALARM/STATUS
LED, as applicable, that should be
affected.
