Cooling fan motor check
To make sure that the electric fan motor is operating
efficiently, it must be connected as shown in the figure,
through a voltmeter and ampmeter.
The motor must be powered for the test.
This test can be carried out on a work surface (con-
necting a 12V–9Ah battery) or on board the motorcycle.
The voltmeter is to check that the battery feeds the
motor at 12V. When the fan turns at maximum speed
the ampmeter should indicate not more than 7 ÷ 8
ampere.
If the motor does not turn, substitute the fan motor with
a new one.
To carry out the above-indicated test it is
not necessary to remove the fan motors
from the vehicle.
WATER RADIATOR GROUP ASSEMBLY
Before reassembling, check the correct rotation of the
fan, the condition of all components and all connec-
tions.
Radiator check and clean
The dirt and extraneous material embedded in the radi-
ators must be removed.
It is recommended to use compressed air for the clean-
ing of the radiator.
Bent fins can be straightened by utilising a small
screwdriver.
NOTE
Assembly of the liquid temperature sensor
Before assembly apply the stated type of threadlocker
fluid to the threaded section of the sensor.
Types of applicable threadlocker: Loctite 577
Tighten the coolant liquid temperature sensor to the
specified torque pressure.
Torque pressure for the coolant temperature
sensor: 18 N·m
Be very careful when inserting the coolant
liquid temperature sensor. It can be dam-
aged if subject to impact.
Make sure that once it has been tightened the contain-
er is set up along a horizontal axis, with the rear stud
set up in the vertical or horizontal position closest to
the torque condition.
