CHARGING THE BATTERY
The battery is charged by connecting the supplied bat-
tery charger to the connector located under the pas-
senger seat. If the battery is charged after a period of
vehicle downtime, make sure that the charger fuse is
placed inside its housing on the remote ignition switch.
Put the motorcycle key inside the rear lock. Turn the
key clockwise and at the same time turn the seat.
Take out the rubber cap (
1
) for the charger connector.
If the supplied battery charger is not available, it is pos-
sible to use other types of battery chargers with a con-
stant voltage charging method to avoid overcharging
the batteries, as shown in the table on the side.
Overcharging the battery or charging it rapidly may
lower the level of the electrolyte, thus making the bat-
tery unusable.
Voltages lower than 11.8V shorten the life
and impair the operation of the battery.
Checking stored batteries once a month pro-
longs their life while keeping them in perfect
working order for future use.
NOTE
1
Before charging, connect the battery charger to the
connector of the vehicle as shown in the figure. Then
connect the battery charger to the AC outlet.
The amber light will go on indicating that it has started
charging, and will last between 0 and 12 hours depend-
ing on the battery conditions.
When charging is complete the green light will come
on.
The supplied battery charger is equipped with a safety
system that produces voltage in output only if the polar-
ities of the cables are correct and the battery that you
intend to charge has a voltage of at least 3V.
When connected, the battery charger automatically
detects the battery conditions, delivering optimal volt-
age values and current intensity to maximise perfor-
mance and increase the duration of the service life of
the battery.
