4.2.  Installation Procedure 

4.2.1  General 

The Senscient ELDS™ 1000 / 2000 Series OPGD is designed to allow installation and alignment 

to be performed by a single, trained technician. 

The installation procedure is split into mechanical installation and electrical installation. Each unit 

needs to be mounted to a supporting structure before making the electrical connections. 

4.2.2  Mechanical Installation 

The mechanical installation procedure applies to both the Receiver and the Transmitter. 

  Check that the gas detector equipment supplied is compatible with the required application 

(1)

(i.e. correct gas and operating range for application). 

  Ensure that the Hazardous Area Certification of the equipment supplied is correct for the

Hazardous Areas / Hazardous (Classified) Locations / Hazardous Zones where the 

equipment is to be installed. 

  Check that the locations selected for siting the equipment are suitable - see section 3.2 

(3)

  For each unit (Tx and Rx) fix the mounting bracket using one of the procedures described in 

(4)

the following sections.
