5.3.1 Maintenance of the exhalation valve
In case of a leak remove the exhalation valve disc by pulling it
off the valve housing and replace it with a new one, or replace
the entire exhalation valve assembly. To do this, unscrew the
threaded socket from the mask inside with the special tool
(Fig. 8). See Table 7 for test and replacement intervals.
5.3.2 Replacing the speaking diaphragm
To replace the speaking diaphragm unbutton the nose cup and
unscrew the threaded socket with the special tool (Part No.
D2055038). Assemble the new speaking diaphragm with the
gasket towards the connector (see Fig. 1). See Table 7 for repla-
cement intervals.
5.3.3 Maintenance of the plug-in connector
The sealing ring in the plug-in connector must be sufficiently
lubricated after each cleaning or disinfection. The special lubri-
cant Parker O-Lube is recommended (see Sect. 9).
5.3.4 Replacing the lens
Loosen screws on lens ring and remove both lens ring halves
and then take out the lens. Prior to fitting the new lens, assure
that the groove of the faceblank is completely clean. When as-
sembling the new lens the middle markings on the faceblank,
the lens and the lens ring halves must match both on top and
bottom, with the marking of the lens ªuntenº toward the con-
nector (Fig. 9).

Leak Test
6.1 Leak test of mask
The tightness test of the mask can be performed with the fol-
lowing test devices after the inhalation and exhalation valves
have been sealed and observing the respective instructions for
use:
± MSA Mask Leak Tester
± MSA Mask Adapter for Leak Tester
± M SA Test Cap
± MSA Multitest
The mask is considered tight if at a positive pressure or a nega-
tive pressure of 7.5 mbar inside the facepiece the pressure
change after one minute does not exceed 0.5 mbar.
6.2 Leak test of exhalation valve
The exhalation valve is also tested with one of the above men-
tioned test devices observing the relative instructions for use.
The exhalation valve is considered tight if at a negative pressure
of 10 mbar inside the facepiece the pressure change after one
minute does not exceed 1 mbar.
6.3 Test of opening pressure of the exhalation valve
The opening pressure of the exhalation valve can be checked
with the MSA Multitest. It must be at least 4.2 mbar, otherwise
change spring.

Intervals
The maintenance intervals are recommended by MSA AUER.
Applicable national regulations must be observed. If required,
the local conditions during use must be considered for the work
to be performed. In case of doubt, the local MSA representative
should be consulted and the applicable national regulations be
checked.

1) Facepieces which are regularly used should be cleaned and
disinfected as often as required. They should be cleaned as soon
as possible after each use because perspiration or saliva that
dries unto the valves could cause malfunctions. The mask must
be disinfected at least before it is used by another person.
2) For airtight packaged facepieces.
8
Storage
The mask should be stored in the plastic carrier.
In order to prevent damage or distortion of the mask, no addi-
tional objects must be stored in the carrier. Observe instruc-
tions in carrier cover. Storage must be in clean, dry and normal
climate, i. e. cool, dry and free from hazardous material, pro-
tected against light and radiant heat. It is recommended to ob-
serve German Standard DIN 7116 1982 and ISO 2230 1973.
