13.2.3 Check sparking plugs, replace
When the generator has just been in operation, the silencer will be very hot - caution:
risk of burning.
-
Take off the plug lead.
-
Unscrew the plug with a plug-spanner and t-bar.
-
If necessary, clean the electrode with a brass brush; if the plug is damaged,
replace it.
-
Check the plug's electrode gap, if necessary adjusting it. It should be possible to
draw the gap-tool quickly through the gap.
-
Screw in the sparking plug by hand as far as possible to avoid cross-threading
then tighten by half a turn with the plug spanner.
-
The sparking plug must be properly tightened. An incor rectly-tightened sparking
plug can become extremely hot and cause
damage to the engine.
-
Replace the plug lead on the sparking plug.
13.2.4 Clean air filter, replace
-
remove cartridge with care
-
wash out the plastic insert in a solution of
warm water and domestic washing up
liquid and then rinse thoroughly. Allow the
insert to dry thoroughly. Immerse the insert
in clean motor oil, then squeeze out surplus
oil. The motor will smoke on the first starting
if too much oil is allowed to remain in the
plastic foam.
-
Knock the dirt out of the paper insert onto a
flat surface to clean it.
-
If excessively dirty, change the filter ele-
ment.
