If extension leads are connected at more than one socket, the maximum permissible lead length is thereby halved. As mobile extensi-
on leads, cable complying at the least with H07RN-F in accordance with DIN VDE 57282 Part 810 must be used. Should the gene-
rator be operated on other networks, the safety device must be modified to suit. This work, including any access to the switchbox,
must only be carried out by a qualified electrician. The latter shall be responsible for the effectiveness of the protective device. In
addition, any local regulations must be observed; authority must be obtained from the local EVU (power supply company) if requi-
red.
4.2 Protection against possibility of electric shock (DIN VDE 0100, T 551)
As standard, the safety feature "Safety cut-out with equipotential bonding" is provided. Leads may neither be earthed nor connected
to the earth lead or equipotential bonding lead (PA). The equipotential bond must be continuous (electricity generator - lead(s) - user
equipment). In order to earth static charges the casing may be earthed. Should the generator feed into an existing network (TN
system), the system safety device must remain operative, or else an effective safety device must be established. If the short-circuit cur-
rent required for the equipment in question isnot generated by the generator or if the system has a greater total resistance than
1.5
Ω
, then a protective measure independent of trigger current or length of lead is to be provided, e.g. an RCD switch. If the gene-
rator is intended for use with RCD switching in TN systems, then the necessary earthing must be observed with the maximum eart-
hing resistance, according to the protective measure selected. Installation of the necessary protection is the responsibility of the elec-
trician.
The effectiveness of every protective device must be ascertained by the electrician when it is put into service.
4.3 Thermal protective cut-out
The generators are fitted with thermal protective monitoring of the generator windings. Should the limit temperature of the generator
winding be exceeded, ignition will be interrupted and the motor thus brought to a standstill. The motor can then only be restarted
once the windings have cooled down sufficiently. Before restarting, the causes leading to overheating must be corrected, e.g. dirty
cooling vanes or ventilator hood must be cleaned, overloading through feeding oversized pieces of equipment is to be avoided,
generator is not to be operated in locations where the ambient temperature is too high.
