Prior to cleaning the engine
com partm ent m ake sure to protect
electrical com ponents and con
nectors from the intrusion of w ater
and cleaning agents.
C orrosion protection, such as MB
Anticorrosion W ax should be ap
plied to the engine com partm ent
after every engine cleaning. Before
applying, all control linkage
bushings and joints should be
lubricated. The poly-V-belt and all
pulleys should be protected from
any wax.
Car W ashing
Do not use hot w ater or wash your
vehicle in direct sunlight. Use only
a mild car w ash detergent, such as
M ercedes-Benz approved C ar
Sham poo.
T horoughly spray the vehicle with a
diffused je t o f water. Direct only a
very w eak spray tow ards the
Engine Cleaning
ventilation intake. Use plenty of
w ater and rinse the sponge and
cham ois frequently.
Rinse with clear w ater and
thoroughly w ipe dry with a
cham ois. Do not allow cleaning
agents to dry on the finish.
If the vehicle has been run through
an autom atic car wash - in particu
lar one of the older installations -
rew ipe the recessed sections in the
taillam ps (designed to prevent
soiling) if necessary. No solvents
(fuels, thinners etc.) m ust be used.
In the winter, thoroughly rem ove all
traces of road salt as soon as
possible.
W hen w ashing the underbody, do
not forget to clean the inner sides
of the wheels.
T ar Stains
Q uickly rem ove tar stains before
they dry and becom e more difficult
to rem ove. A tar rem over is
recom m ended.
Use a w indow cleaning solution on
all glass surfaces. An autom otive
glass cleaner is recom m ended.
H eadlam ps, Taillam ps,
Turn Signal Lenses
Use a mild car wash detergent,
such as M ercedes-Benz approved
C ar Sham poo, with plenty of w ater.
To prevent scratches, never apply
strong force or use a hard cloth
when cleaning the lenses. Do not
attem pt to wipe dirty lenses with a
dry cloth or sponge.
Plastic and R ubber Parts
Do not use oil or w ax on these
parts.
W ip er Blades
Clean the w iper blade rubber with
a clean cloth and detergent
solution. Replace blades tw ice a
year; once before and once after
winter.
