Exterior Lam p Failure Indicator
Lam p
W ith the key in steering lock posi­
tion 2, an indicator lamp com es on.
It should go out w hen the engine is
running.
If the warning lam p does not go out
after starting the engine, or if it
com es on while driving, this lamp
indicates a failure in the parking
lamp, taillamp, stop lamp, or low
beam headlamp.
If an exterior lam p fails, the in­
dicator lamp will com e on only
when that lamp is switched on.
If a brake lamp fails, the lamp
failure indicator will com e on when
applying the brake and stays on
until the engine is turned off.
Note:
If additional lighting equipm ent is
installed (e.g. auxiliary headlam ps
etc.) be certain to connect into the
fuse before the failure indicator
m onitoring unit in order to avoid
dam aging the system.
Tachom eter
Red marking on tachom eter:
Excessive engine speed.
Avoid this engine speed, as it may
result in serious engine dam age
that is not covered by the
M ercedes-Benz Limited W arranty.
For engine protection, the fuel
supply is interrupted if the engine is
operated within the red marking.
Seat Belt W arning Lam p
W ith the key in steering lock
position 2, the seat belt warning
lam p com es on, and a warning
sounds for a short tim e if the
drivers seat belt is not fastened.
A fter starting the engine, the seat
belt w arning lam p blinks for a brief
period to remind the driver and
passengers to fasten seat belts.
Brake Pad W ear Indicator Lam p
With the key in steering lock
position 2, the brake pad wear
indicator lam p com es on. It goes
out w hen the engine is running.
If the indicator lamp lights up
during braking, this indicates that
the brake pads are worn down.
Have the brake system checked at
your authorized M ercedes-Benz
dealer as soon as possible.
