R estraint System (SRS)
Your vehicle is equipped with lap-
shoulder seat belts, em ergency
tensioning retractors for the seat
belts, front and side airbags for
driver and passenger, as well as a
knee bolster for the driver’s seat.

belt use.

use of child restraints that com ply

All child restraint system s are
designed to be secured in vehicle
seats by lap belts or the lap belt
portion of a lap-shoulder belt.
For your safety and that of your
passenger we strongly recomm end
their use.
Children 12 years old and

this vehicle, except in a
M erced es-B en z authorized
B abySm art™ com patible child
seat, w hich operates with the
B abySm art™ system installed
in the veh icle to deactivate the
passenger side fro nt airbag
w hen it is properly installed.
O th erw ise they w ill be struck
by the airbag w hen it inflates in
a crash. If this happens, se
rious o r fatal injury will result.
Infants and sm all children
m ust be seated in an app ro
priate infant or child restraint
system , w hich is properly
secured w ith the v e h ic le ’s seat
belt, fully in accordance with
the child seat m an ufactu rer’s
instructions.
A c h ild ’s risk of serious or
fatal injuries is significantly
increased if the child restraints
are not properly secured in the
veh icle and the child is not
properly secured in the child
restraint.
Warning!
W ith the key in steering lock
position 2, a warning sounds for a
short tim e if the d river’s seat belt is
not fastened.

Failure to w ear and properly
fasten and position your seat
belt greatly increases your risk
of injuries and th eir likely
severity in an accident. You
and you r passenger should
alw ays w ear seat belts.
If you are ever in an accident,
your injuries can be consider
ably m ore severe w ithout your
seat belt properly buckled.
W ithout your seat belt buck
led, you are m uch m ore likely
to hit the interior of the vehicle
or be ejected from it. You can
be seriously injured or killed.
In the sam e crash, the pos
sibility for injury or death is
lessened with your seat belt
properly positioned and
buckled.
