Coolants
The e n g in e c o o la n t is a m ix tu re of
w a te r and a n tic o rro s io n /a n tifre e z e ,
w h ic h p rovides:
• c o rro s io n p ro te c tio n
• freeze p ro te c tio n
• b o ilin g p ro te c tio n (by in cre a sin g
th e b o ilin g p o in t).
The c o o lin g system w as fille d at the
fa c to ry w ith a c o o la n t p ro v id in g
freeze p ro te c tio n to - 3 0 ° C /- 2 2 ° F
and c o rro s io n p ro te c tio n . The red
area o f th e te m p e ra tu re ga u g e is
m atched to th e h e a tin g p ro p e rtie s
o f th is c o o la n t s o lu tio n .
The c o o la n t s o lu tio n m u st be used
year ro u n d to p ro vid e th e necessary
c o rro s io n p ro te c tio n and increase
in th e b o il-o v e r p ro te c tio n . You
s h o u ld have it rep la ce d every
3 years.
To p ro vid e th e im p o rta n t c o rro s io n
p ro te c tio n , th e s o lu tio n m u st be at
least 33% a n tic o rro s io n /a n tifre e z e
(equals a freeze p ro te c tio n to
- 2 0 °
C l - 4 ° F). If you use a s o lu tio n
th a t is m ore than 55% a n tic o rro ­
s io n /a n tifre e ze (freeze p ro te c tio n to
- 4 0 ° C/ - 4 0 ° F), th e e n g in e te m p e r­
a tu re w ill increase due to th e lo w e r
heat tra n s fe r c a p a b ility o f th e s o lu ­
tio n . T h e re fo re , do n o t use m ore
th a n th is a m o u n t o f a n tic o rro s io n /
antifreeze.
If th e c o o la n t level is low, w a te r and
M-B a n tic o rro s io n /a n tifre e z e sh o u ld
be used to b rin g it up to th e p ro p e r
level (have c o o lin g system checked
fo r s ig n s o f leakage).
The w a te r in th e c o o lin g system
m u st m eet m in im u m re q u ire m e n ts,
w h ic h are u su a lly s a tisfie d by n o r­
mal d rin k in g w ater. If you are not
