NOTE:
All counterweights are aligned the
same.
Sealing and Locking Compound (C226)
(4). Install set screw (10):
(a). Apply sealing and locking compound
(C226) to the threads of set screw
(10).
(b). Install set screw (10) in the pitch
horn to secure counterweight (9).
(c). Torque set screw (10) 4 to 6 in-lb
(0.45 to 0.68 Nm) .
E. Installation of the Fan Blades
(1). Install sleeves (12) in the outer rim of
fan hub (1).
Center spline bolts (21) have
the same life limit as the fan
hub (1). Because these bolts do not
have serial numbers, their lives must
be the same as the fan hub they were
first installed in, and must be replaced
when the fan hub is replaced.
(2). Carefully install fan blade (11) in fan
hub (1).
(a). Move the pitch horn and counter­
weight arms through sleeve (12) in
the outer rim of fan hub (1).
(b). Install the blade spar through fan
blade bushing (8) in the inner rim of
fan hub (1).
(c). Align the index mark of fan blade
(11) with the 20
°
mark on fan hub
(1).
The life limit of the tension-tor­
sion straps start after each
package is opened. Ref. Storage for tension-
torsion straps that are not installed after re­
moval from its package.
(3). Install tension-torsion straps (13):
(a). If a tension-torsion strap (13) is new,
do these steps:
1). Remove tension-torsion strap (13)
from package.
NOTE:
Ref. Storage procedures for unused ten­
sion-torsion straps that have been removed
from the package, but not used.
2). Write the words EXPIRATION
DATE on the strap face and date
(month/year) five years after the
package is opened with permanent
ink (ref. Detail D).
3). Make an item component record
card for each tension-torsion strap
(13).
(b). Put the large bushing end ( Diameter
A) of tension-torsion strap (13) in the
blade spar of fan blade (11).
NOTE:
Diameter A is 0.313 to 0.314 inch (7.95
to 7.98 mm) .
Diameter B is 0.250 to 0.252 inch (6.35
to 6.40 mm) .
1). Install tension-torsion straps (13)
so that the cure date can be seen
when the fan is assembled.
(c). Align the holes in the blade spar and
tension-torsion strap (13).
(d). Install pin (14).
(e). Turn fan blade (11) sufficiently to
install washer (15) and cotter pin
(16).
(4). Turn fan blade (11) to the 20
°
mark on
fan hub.
(5). Pull fan blade (11) out until the
counterweight arms are against the
outer rim of fan hub (1).
(6). Install center spline (20) as necessary:
NOTE:
If you install a 900R2441007-101 center
spline, make sure it is installed with a
900R2441002-105 support shaft and
900R2444002-101 fan shaft coupling.
If you install a 900R2441016-101 center
spline, make sure it is installed with a
900R2441015-101 support shaft and
900R2444003-101 fan shaft coupling.
