B. Installation
Always wear rubber or clean
fabric gloves when you handle
bearing to prevent contamination of bearing
with oil from your skin.
NOTE:
If you replace bearing, record serial num­
ber of new bearing in rotorcraft log book.
Bearing cones, rollers, and cups must be
replaced as a set. It can be necessary to
install a different bearing spacer (shim)
when you replace upper bearing.
Fill bearing with grease by hand, use
force to push grease into bearing. Do no
put too much grease in bearing.
If you use a bearing grease tool, use mini­
mum pressure to make sure sufficient
grease goes into bearing.
Grease (C104)
(1). Fill bearing (1) with grease (C104).
Make sure all hub spaces are
filled with grease to prevent
condensation.
(2). Fill space between center seal (12) and
upper bearing cup (5) with grease
(C104).
(3). Install bearing (1).
(a). Make sure bearing roller (3) fully
touch bearing cup (5).
(4). Make sure the space above upper
bearing (1) is full to the top edge of
bearing cone (2) with grease (C104).
(5). Install seal stop (8).
(6). Install new upper seal (6) (ref. Proce­
dure 16.B.).

A. Removal
(1). Remove the main rotor hub assembly
(ref. Procedure 1.A.).
(2). Remove upper bearing (1) (ref. Proce­
dure 17.A.).
(3). Remove hub shim (13).
(4). Put the main rotor hub assembly top
down on a work bench.
If the older two-piece seal (with
retainer) is installed, it can be
necessary to be deform the seal to remove it.
Do not damage the main rotor hub assem­
bly.
(5). Remove lower seal (9) with a seal puller
or other applicable procedure.
(a). Discard lower seal (9).
B. Installation
Grease (C104)
(1). Make sure space between bearing and
seal is full of grease to the top edge of
bearing cone with grease (C104).
Primer (C310)
(2). Apply primer (C310) to mating surface
of lower seal.
