Introduction
The devices of the CENTAURI series are audio gateways; in other words they are audio
codecs with extensive network ability (Internet, Intranet, LAN, WAN). They support all
common coding procedures and transmission protocols.

Overview
The new MAYAH MERK II is a portable Codec and Mixer. It is based on the well known
and introduced CENTAURI product family. While typical portable devices have restrictions
on the number of audio I/O and compatibility, the MERK II development has focussed on
extended features and functionality in that area:
4 switchable MIC/LINE Inputs, 2 Line Inputs and 4 Headphone Outputs
Switchable Phantom Power 48V with LED indication
10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet for Audio-via-IP and Wireless-LAN
Extended mixing capabilitites including monitor & control
Flashcast compatibility to most of all available audio codecs
Extremely low delay algorithms with apt-X, ADPCM4SB and AAC Low Delay
Electronically controlled potentiometers for full audio mixing remote control

MERK II supports dual codec mode as well as point-to-multipoint transmissions – the
dream of a reporter to reach up to 8 destinations simultaneously with e.g. 64kBit/s AAC
audio quality. Up to four people for extended interview groups or a combination of original
stadium sound plus two interview people can be transmitted simultaneously in stereo with
all mixing parameters under control. Individually controllable send/receive levels for
headphone monitoring allow the right mix for each interview partner.
With Flashcast® technology connectivity is as easy as pushing a button. Directories of
complete set-ups and phone book entries are easy to access. Compatibility to many
available audio codecs is provided in the same and known professionalism as in
CENTAURI® Audio Gateway Codecs. Ergonomic studies have resulted in control and LCD
combination in a user friendly way. The eight keypotentiometers are electronically
controlled and are either level, pan or gain. The selection is performed by four function
keys. The traditional keypad from CENTAURI for navigation and alphanumeric processes
is kept.
