Slot Card Specifications
Ethernet-3ND slot card
to support voice over IP (VoIP). An Ethernet-3ND card supports autonegotiation, in which
Ethernet devices negotiate a common speed and duplex mode.

Note:
For VoIP applications, the Ethernet-3ND should be connected to a non-autosensing,
full duplex 100Mb Ethernet switch to insure that the higher speed is used. It is possible that an
autosensing switch might negotiate down to the lower speed, which will kill VoIP.
Ethernet-3ND status indicators
The multipurpose status indicator (FAULT) is green during normal operation and also performs
as described in “Multipurpose status indicator on slot cards” on page B-1, the Ethernet-3ND
card provides the status indicators shown in Figure B-8.
