About This Guide
What is in this guide
This guide explains how to perform the following installation and basic configuration tasks on
an APX 1000 unit:
•
Physical installation of the chassis and its components
•
Connection of an administrative terminal to the APX 1000 unit
•
Configuration of the APX 1000 unit for administrative network connectivity
This guide also provides technical specifications and an operational overview of the APX 1000
unit. When you finish performing the instructions in this guide, the unit will be installed and
you will be able to access it via a Telnet connection for further configuration.
You can then use the APX 1000 Physical Interface Configuration Guide to configure the slot
cards in your unit. For information about configuring the unit for Asynchronous Transfer
Mode (ATM), frame relay, or routing and tunneling services, see the APX 8000™/MAX®
configuration guides listed under on “Documentation set” on page xv.
Note:
This manual describes the features for APX 1000 units running software version
9.1-149. Some features might not be available with earlier versions or specialty loads of the
software.

your unit’s hardware installation guide.
This guide is for the person who installs and performs basic configuration on APX 1000 units.
