If the server stops during testing and you cannot continue, restart the server and try running the diagnostic
programs again. If the problem remains, replace the component that was being tested when the server
stopped.
Diagnostic text messages
Diagnostic text messages are displayed while the tests are running. A diagnostic text message contains
one of the following results:
Passed: The test was completed without any errors.
Failed: The test detected an error.
Aborted: The test could not proceed because of the server configuration
Additional information concerning test failures is available in the extended diagnostic results for each test.
EasyLED
EasyLED is a system of LEDs on various external and internal components of the server. When an error
occurs, LEDs are lit throughout the server. By viewing the LEDs in a particular order, you can often identify
the source of the error.
When LEDs are lit to indicate an error, they remain lit when the server is turned off, provided that the server is
still connected to power and the power supply is operating correctly.
Before working inside the server to view EasyLED LEDs, read the safety information in Chapter 2 “Safety
information” on page 3 and “Installation guidelines” on page 67.
If an error occurs, view the EasyLED LEDs in the following order:
1. Look at the operator information panel on the front of the server.
• If the information LED is lit, it indicates that information about a suboptimal condition in the server is
available in the IMM system event log or in the system-error log.
• If the system-error LED is lit, it indicates that an error has occurred; go to step 2.
The following illustration shows the operator information panel.
2. To view the EasyLED panel, slide the latch to the left on the front of the EasyLED drawer. This reveals
the EasyLED panel. Lit LEDs on this panel indicate the type of error that has occurred. The following
illustration shows the EasyLED panel:
