the

switch

forward

client

request

for

with

addresses

that

have

been

configured

the

switch.

When

switch

receives

BOOTP

request

from

BOOTP

client

requesting

address,

the

switch

acts

proxy

for

the

client.

The

request

then

forwarded

UDP

Unicast

MAC

layer

message

two

BOOTP

servers

whose

addresses

are

configured

the

switch.

The

servers

respond

the

switch

with

Unicast

that

contains

the

default

gateway

and

address

for

the

client.

The

switch

then

forwards

this

back

the

client.
