6.
Cleaning and Maintenance
• Refill and reconnect the bottles once cleaned.
Make sure the bottle lids are tight and the bottles are properly seated in their home position
at the rear of the reagent cabinet.
• While the system bottles are outside of the reagent cabinet, wipe the stainless steel inner walls
of the reagent cabinet with a cloth moistened with a mild detergent.

Using a bottle brush and a laboratory detergent in warm water.
The system bottles must be properly engaged in the home position in the con-
nection manifolds at the rear inner wall of the reagent cabinet. Failure to cor-
rectly plug reagent containers into the manifold will cause an interruption to
the processing run and may result in spilling of reagents.
The level can be identified by simply looking through the RTU-bottles if these
are cleaned regularly to remove clinging contamination.
Leica RTU-bottles must never be cleaned in a dishwasher.
The reagent containers are NOT dishwasher-proof!
6.4 Taking the instrument out of service temporarily
To take the instrument out of service, follow this procedure:
1. Carry out a full cleaning of the retort (
Chap. 6.1.2
).
2. Empty all stations (incl. paraffin station), the wax baths and the retort.
3. Carry out a SMART cleaning (
Chap. 6.1.4
).
4. Switch off the instrument (
Chap. 4.8
).
After putting the instrument back into service and switching it on, it can take up to 48 h for the
internal battery to fully charge and to be available in case of a potential power failure.
