Customizing Measurements
Model 831 Manual

Energize the room sufficiently. It may take multiple
sound sources and measurements to characterize the
decay times over the full desired spectrum.
•
Make measurements at many different source-
microphone combinations to improve the ensemble
uncertainty. See the “Accuracy Grade section on page
13-28 for more information.
•
Minimize what is in the room (see ISO 3382-2:2008(E)
Section 4.1).
•
ASTM E2235 requires working with a diffuse field
(random incidence) microphone. You can select the
correction FF->RI to adapt your microphone
characteristics if needed.
