AUTOMATIC TRANSPORT LOCK
4-9.1
On 10’ to 15’ models:
a.
The cylinder lock is controlled by the rod lo-
cated in the rear of the center frame section.
It can be located in two positions, work and
transport
(See Figure 4-4)
.
b.
When the control rod is placed behind the
center tab (to the right) spring tension from
the rod holds the lock link toward the front of
the machine. In this condition, the cylinder
can be cycled without the transport ear com-
ing into contact with the lock link. When the
rod is placed to the left (away from the cen-
ter), spring tension from the rod holds the lock
link to the rear. During the next extension cy-
cle of the cylinder, the top pin in the lock link
will drop into the recess in the transport cylin-
der ear, preventing the cylinder from retract-
ing (or lowering the machine).
c.
The control rod may be moved to the lock
position (left) regardless of cylinder length or
the position (up or down) of the machine.
When the control rod is in the left position, the
cylinder lock will always engage when the
machine is raised the first time. To lower the
machine, the control rod should be moved to
the right position. Then extend the transport
cylinder to relieve pressure on the lock link.
The machine can now be lowered.
4-9.2
On 18’ model:
a.
The cylinder lock is controlled by the rod lo-
cated in the rear of the center frame section.
It can be located in two positions, work and
transport
(See Figure 4-5)
.
b.
When the control rod is pushed rearward,
the cylinder can be cycled without the trans-
port ear coming in contact with the lock link.
When the rod is pulled forward, during the
next extension cycle of the cylinder, the top
pin in the lock link will drop into the recess in
the transport cylinder ear, preventing the cyl-
inder from retracting (or lowering the ma-
chine).
c.
The control rod may be moved to the lock
position (forward) regardless of cylinder
length or the position (up or down) of the
machine. When the control rod is in the
forward position, the cylinder lock will always
engage when the machine is raised the first
time. To lower the machine, the control rod
should be pushed rearward. Then extend the
transport cylinder to relieve pressure on the
lock link. The machine can now be lowered.
