14.0 Ash screw.
By biomass fuels forming a lot of ashes in connection with their combustion, it is a great advantage to fit
the burner with an automatic ash screw, perhaps in combination with the scraper bottom.
The ash screw is mounted as shown below.
Mode of operation.
The screw conveys the ashes that drop into it, out through the boiler side. From here, the screw tube runs
into the side of a 20 litre ash bin which is filled from the bottom like a molehill.
Adjustment possibilities (see section 6.10)
The ash screw runs parallel to the stoker screw, use parameter ASH SCREW to set its capacity as a
percentage of the stoker screw capacity.
As a starting point, set it at 3-10%, later on adjust the setting to the ash volume
Maintenance.
Clinker crust: By heavy formation of clinker, it may be necessary to remove the biggest lumps now and
then, but this rarely occurs.
Ash bin:
Be careful to manually empty the ash bin before it runs quite full as that would charge the
screw and the engine more than necessary.
